We have built our practice structure around the security of our clients' data. Business continuity planning ("BCP") is designed into our system as a key element in its architecture. We feel that these issues are too important to 'bolt on' contingency plans to any existing business model.
Our policy to digitise all client data prevents potential physical loss and damage to paper files through flood, fire or theft. This is nothing, though, without proper backup of these digital systems. Data can be corrupted or damaged through power surges, virus infection, hacking, hard drive failure and any number of other causes.
We take great care to shield ourselves against these hazards. Anti-virus software and a corporate firewall form the first lines of defence. We also use uninterrupted power supply ("UPS") and surge protection hardware to safeguard our system.
The centrepiece of our BCP structure is the daily remote backup of all critical data. The firm uses DEPOSITIT as its provider. The company is Which? recommended, has three physical server sites, and guarantees secure data transmission by using military-grade encryption to secure the information being transferred.
